1. What is the North Bay Children’s Center?
The North Bay Children’s Center (NBCC) provides children in California’s Sonoma and Marin counties with high-quality early education and childcare programs. Their 13 educational facilities span from Headelsburg in the north to Novato in the south and serve 600 children annually.
Almost 3,000 families in Marin and Sonoma counties struggle to provide their children with early education. One in three Marin County preschool-aged children and one in two Sonoma County preschool-aged children can’t attend preschool because of the steep costs.
Early childhood education is crucial to future success. In fact, children who have access to quality child care programming are 31% more likely to finish high school, 80% more likely to enroll in college, and 23% more likely to find employment than those with low quality or no preschool access.
The North Bay Children’s Center works to ensure that local children have access to this critical education. They’ve provided more than 4,000 childcare hours and 300,000 meals to families in need over 30 years.
NBCC supports early childhood development through four pillars: school readiness, self-sufficiency, health and wellness, and a quality curriculum taught by skilled teachers. A highlight of the programming is the Center’s Garden of Eatin’ program that teaches kids about nutrition through working in the schools’ gardens.
All graduates leave NBCC with the skills they need to start kindergarten off strong and set themselves up for long term academic and career success.
